サイトマヘトでバスをおりたとき、
「ここはいいな」
とまず思ったのは、もの乞いや、もの売りのすがたがまったくなかった
ことであった。
けんそう
どの仏跡も、もの乞いともの売りが喧噪をきわめ、これがどれだけ聖地 のイメージをそこねていたことか。
アシュラム
サエルラブル
祇園精舎の入り口の前の広場に、二階建て、白塗りの寺院があった。そ の前に数名の人が群れ、その中心に、六十歳なかばと思われるがっしりと した体格の一人の僧が立っていた。バスからおりたリンポーチェをみとめ ると、満面に笑みをたたえ、大きく手をひろげて近づいてきた。二人は手 にぎり合って、なつかしそうに話しはじめた。
やがてひき合わされたところによると、リンポーチェの先輩すじにあた
ある聖師で、 メチワラ・サンガラターナというかたであった。
「スリランカの出身で、非常な学僧です。 去年、ここへ寺院を建てたのだ
そうです。わたしもここへ来るまで知りませんでした」
そう、リンポーチェがいった。
「仏陀が十八年間説法されたこの精舎のそばで、 生涯を終えるのが、わた くしのかねてからの念願でした」
サンガラターナ師は、あたりに響きわたるような大きな声で語った。や やなまりのある英語であった。 がっしりとした頑丈そうな体格で、声が大 きいのは健康なのだろう。八十一歳という年齢を聞いてびっくりした。ど うみても六十歳代としかみえないのである。
師が先に立って、精舎を案内してくださった。われわれが師をガイドに 得たことはじつにしあわせであった。観光会社がつけてくれたガイドも、 この地のことにはあまり知識がなく、リンポーチェにしても、数年前に一 度しか来たことがなかったのである。他の仏跡地のように、サイト・マへ トには案内人がいないのである。もし、サンガラターナ師がおられなかっ たら、われわれは、祇園精舎をただあるきまわるだけで、ひとつひとつの
師はうなずいた。
明して行く
遺跡について、くわしいことはなにひとつ知ることはできなかったであろ う。師はわが家の庭のごとく、愛情をこめて、あれこれと指さしながら説
小高い丘の上に立って、わたくしは師の説明を聞いていた。
そのとき、突然、それがやってきたのだった。
師の大きな声が突然すうっと遠のいたかと思うと、右ななめ前方から、 がぁんと、頭から頬にかけてなぐりつけられたような衝撃を感じたのだ。 目の中を白い光が飛んだ。 剣道で力いっぱい面を打たれたとき、目の 中を走るの閃光に似ていた。わたくしは思わずくらくらとして、額に手 をあてた。一種のバイブレーションであることはわかった。わたくしも密 教の修行者として各地の霊場をあるき、何度か霊的なバイブレーションを うけている。しかし、こんなすさまじい叩きつけるようなバイブレーショ ははじめてであった。しかもまったく無防禦だったので、完全に不意を つかれたという感じだった。どこでも霊場へ入るときには、それなりの心
「待ってください」
がまえをして入る。だからつよいバイブレーションをうけてもうけとめら れるのだが、ここでは全く無防禦だったので、その衝撃はことにつよかっ たのだ。数秒つづいたように感じたが、それはほんの一瞬のようであっ た。師の大きな声がふたたび耳によみがえってきた。
わたくしは手をあげて師を制した。
「ちょっと待って。わたくしはいま、ものすごいバイブレーションを感じ たのです。それはものすごいバイブレーションで、そう、あの方向からき
ました。あれはなんですか? あの凹地は」
くぼみ
わたくしは、その衝撃がきたと思われる方向をゆびさした。 五十メート ルほど前方に、雑草の生いしげった凹地があった。そこから、それがきた 思われた。
「ああ、あれですか」
大異変が生じたのだ。 その異変により、神経線維が異常分泌をおこした か、それともそこにある分泌液、神経液に変化がおきたのか、そのいずれ であるかはわからぬが、それらの分泌液が複雑に混合し合って、化学反応 をおこしたのだ。あの火は、その化学反応による衝撃が、視床の神経をは げしく打って、網膜に閃光を走らせたのだ。その衝撃はここの神経線維に シナプスをむすび、その火はいつでも私の思うまま私の脳の内奥に明星を またたかせることとなった。同時に私の脳の構造も一変した。 求聞持聡明 法の成就である。求聞持聡明法とは、脳の内部の化学反応による脳組織の 変革であったのだ。 (密教・超能力の秘密」 平河出版社)
わたくしのいう練行tapasが、 どのようなものであるか、だいたいおわかりい ただけたことと思う。 いまから考えると、これは「求聞持聡明法」そのものの成 就ではなかったかもしれない。まったく新しい法の開発ではなかったかと思う。 そのいずれであるかは別として、霊視・霊聽、ホトケの現形といった霊的な
超常的パワーをわたくしにあたえてくれたことだけはたしかであった。
ひげぎよう
そしてまたそれは、それだけのことではなかった。つぎの次元への大きな飛 台となるものだったのである。それはおよそ「密教・超能力の秘密』刊行後十 年のちに起きた。
一九八〇年十一月、わたくしはインド仏跡巡拝の旅に出た。その旅行におい それは起こった。
一九八年七月発行の「一九九九年カルマと霊障からの脱出』(平河出版社)よ りの抜粋である。
白銀の輝きにみちたバイブレーション
五日、六日、七日、旅程は順調にすすんでいった。
しかし、日を経るにしたがって、わたくしのこころは沈んでいった。 仏跡のひとつひとつみなすばらしいものではあったが、わたくしのここ ひそかに期待していたような感動はあたえてくれなかったのである。ま
ことに不遜ないいかただが、このわたくしがこうしてインドまできたの だ。なにかあるはずだ、そう気負っていたものが崩れおちていた。
仏跡巡拝さいごの日であった。
仏陀終焉の地、クシナガラ。
仏陀が十八年間説法されたという祇園精舎サイト・マヘト。
これでおわりであった。あとの旅程は、デリーから、エローラ、アジャ ンタの石窟寺院で、仏教にゆかりはあるが、仏跡そのものではない。
わたくしのこころは、もはや仏跡からはなれていた。だから、その朝、 道路事情が非常にわるいため、 クシナガラかサイト・マヘトか、いずれか 一方にしぼらねばならなくなったと聞かされたとき、わたくしは、どちら でもよいと思いながら、なに気なく、
「サヘト・マヘトにしよう」
といったのだ。
それを告げた秘書が
「やはり、そうですか」
といったが、わたくしはべつに気にもとめなかった。
動き出したバスの中で、秘書がこういった。
「前から、リンポーチェがいっておられたんです。 桐山先生には、どこを
おいても、サイト・マヘトにはかならず行っていただきたい、と。ですか さっき先生のご決定を聞いて、やはりそうかと思ったんです」
「ふうむ、リンポーチェがそういっていたの?」
「はい、日本にいるときからそうでした。 カトマンズに出迎えられたとき もくりかえしていっておられました。さっきも、ぜったいにサイト・マ ヘトにするよう、先生に申し上げてくれといっておられました」
わたくしはうなずいたが、べつにふかくは考えなかった。しかし、その サイト・マヘトに、真っ向からわたくしを叩きのめすすさまじい衝撃が待 ちかまえていたのである。
「あれは、ミラクルの池です」
「ミラクルの池?」
「そう、ミラクルの池。仏陀が奇蹟をおあらわしになった。そこであそこ ミラクルの池とよぶのです」
「そのミラクルとは、どんなミラクルなのですか?」
「それは、仏陀が空中浮揚してこの池の上に立ち、上半身を火に、下半
身を水にかえたのです」
「ほう、それはどういうことですか?」
それはですね、と師の説明によると、こうであった。
スラバスティの大長者スダッタ(須達多)が、仏陀のために大金を投じて ここに土地を求め、大精舎を建立した。 仏陀の名声は四方につたわり、教
きびす
えを乞うもの踵を接した。
しょうょう
この附近には、ジャイナ教その他の外道の寺院がたくさんあった。それ らの寺院の指導者たちは、仏陀の名声をねたみ、いろいろ、仏陀を中傷、
批難した。中でもとくに、仏陀を口のうまい山師にすぎないといいふらし た。口さきで理論を説くだけで、なに一つ神通力を持っていない、要する に口舌の徒であるという批難であった。当時のインドの宗教界では、指導 者となるためには、なんらかの神通力を持つことが、必須の条件とされて いた。ところが、仏陀は、無用に神通力をあらわすことをきらって、この 地に来てから一度もその力を示すことがなかったのである。
他の教団の指導者たちは、これを、仏陀にその力がないからだと考え、 これを攻撃したわけである。 仏陀が大神通力の持ちぬしであることを知っ ている高弟たちは、一度、ぜひその力を示されるようおねがいしたが、仏 陀は承知されなかった。いよいよ神通力などないと思いあがった他教団の 指導者たちは、自分たちのパトロンである他の長者や勢力者たちを通じ て、スダッタに、仏陀と神通力の試合を申し入れた。負けたほうがこの地 を去るという条件である。 スダッタもついにことわりきれず、仏陀に試合 を
通した。あるいは、スダッタも仏陀の神通力を見たかったのかも知れ
ない。仏陀もスダッタの立場を考慮され、ついにこれを承諾された。
その日、他の教団の指導者たちが、これみよがしにさまざまな神通力を 競い合ったさいごに、仏陀がすがたをあらわされた。

仏陀は三層の高楼の舞台にそのおすがたをあらわされたのである。いか なる神通力をあらわされるのかと群衆が固唾をのんで見守るなか、なんと
ぞうさ
仏陀は露台の手すりを無雑作に乗り越えられ、空中に足を踏み出されたの である。一瞬、手をはなされる。仏陀墜落! とみるまに、仏陀はそのま まゆっくりと空中浮揚して、庭園にむらがる大衆の頭上を越え、きよら かな清水をたたえた庭園の池の上に立たれたのである。微風に小波をたて
清涼池の水の上に、仏陀はしずかに立っておられるのである。 群衆が思 わずわが目をうたがったつぎの瞬間、仏陀の上半身は火炎となって燃えあ がり、下半身は玉のような水と化したのである。
目のあたりに見る大神通力に、なみいる他教団の指導者や、土地の勢力 者をはじめ、すべてのひとびとはその場にひれ伏して、頭をあげ得なかっ
わたくしは、額に手をあてて師の説明を聞いていた。途中からふいに、 やわらかなバイブレーションとともに、ひとつの概念 思考の流れがし ずかにわたくしの脳髄ふかく流れこんでくるのを感じたのである。わたく しは、自分の思念をまったくとめて、それをすなおにうけいれていた。 突 如、さいごに、すさまじい戦慄が走った。 全身の血がいっぺんにひいてゆ くような、名状しがたい恐怖感の襲撃だった。それがおわったとき、師の 説明もおわった。
「先生、 その、上半身が火となって、下半身が水となる、というのは、ど こういうことでしょうか?」
だれかがわたくしに質問した。
「ああ、それはね、全身のチャクラが、すさまじいパワーで、エネルギー 放射したのでしょう。空中浮揚をするために、仏陀は全身のチャクラに すさまじいエネルギーを集中した。池の上に降り立って、そのエネルギー
When I got off the bus at Sait Mahet,
“It’s nice here.”

There was a certain rishi named Methhiwara Sangaratana.
“He is a very learned monk from Sri Lanka. He built a temple here last year.”

“It has long been my wish that the Buddha should end his life near this monastery where he preached for 18 years.”
Master Sangaratana spoke in a loud voice that echoed all around. He spoke English with a strong accent. He has a sturdy and sturdy physique, and his loud voice is probably a sign of his health. He was surprised to hear that he was 81 years old. No matter how you look at him, he looks like he’s in his sixties.
The master stood in front of me and showed me around the temple. We were very fortunate to have had a master as our guide. The guide provided by the tourist company didn’t know much about the area, and Rinpoche had only been there once, several years ago. Like other Buddhist sites, there are no guides at the site. If Master Sangarathana were not there, we could simply walk around the Gion Shosha and find each and every one of them.
Master nodded.

He probably couldn’t have known anything detailed about the ruins. The teacher lovingly pointed at this and that as he preached, as if it were his own garden.
I was standing on a small hill listening to my teacher’s explanation.
Then, suddenly, it came.
Just as the teacher’s loud voice suddenly seemed to fade away, he felt an impact from diagonally in front of him, as if someone had hit him from head to cheek. A white light flashed in his eyes. It was like the flash of light that flashed through his eyes when he was hit hard in the face in kendo. I felt dizzy and put my hand on his forehead. I realized that it was a kind of vibration. As a practitioner of Esoteric Buddhism, I have visited sacred sites around the country, and he has received spiritual vibrations several times. However, this was the first time I had experienced such a tremendous pounding vibration. And he was completely defenseless, so he felt like he had been caught completely by surprise. Please prepare yourself before entering. That’s why he was able to accept strong vibrations, but here he was completely unprotected, so the shock was especially strong on him. It felt like it lasted several seconds, but it seemed like just a moment. My teacher’s loud voice came back to my ears.
I raised my hand and stopped my master.
“Wait a minute. I just felt a tremendous vibration. It was a tremendous vibration, and yes, it was coming from that direction.

In November 1980, I went on a trip to visit Buddhist ruins in India. It happened on that trip.

Vibrations filled with silvery shine
The itinerary went smoothly for the fifth, sixth, and seventh days.

My heart had already strayed from the Buddhist ruins. So when I was told that morning that the road conditions were so bad that I had to choose between Kushinagara and Sait Mahet, I thought to myself, “I don’t care which way I want to go.” ,
“Let’s make it Sahet Mahet.”

The secretary who told me that

As the bus started to move, the secretary said this.
“Rinpoche has been telling me for some time now.
However, I would like you to definitely visit Site Mahet. When he heard about the teacher’s decision earlier, he thought that was the case.”
“Hmm, that’s what Rin Poche said?”
“Yes, he has been like that ever since he was in Japan.When we met him in Kathmandu, he kept repeating the same thing.A while ago, he asked me to tell him to make sure that I made Site Mahet.” There you are.”
I nodded, but didn’t think much of it. However, a tremendous impact awaited me on his site, Mahet, that would completely knock me away.
“That’s Miracle Pond.”
“Miracle Pond?”
“Yes, the Miracle Pond. Buddha performed miracles there. That’s why he called it the Miracle Pond.”
“What kind of miracle is that miracle?”
“It is a story of Buddha levitating in the air, standing over this pond, his upper body on fire, his lower half on fire.
I turned his body into water.”
“Huh, what does that mean?”
Well, according to my teacher’s explanation, it was like this.
Sudatta, the great ruler of Sravasti, invested a large sum of money for the Buddha, and he sought land here and built a great shrine. The Buddha’s fame spreads to all directions, and the teachings

There were many Jain and other temples in this area. The leaders of those temples were jealous of the Buddha’s fame and slandered him in various ways.
criticized. Among other things, he pretended that the Buddha was nothing more than a smooth-talking charlatan. He was accused of simply preaching theories and not possessing any divine powers; in other words, he was a talkative person. In the religious world of India at the time, in order to become a leader, it was considered necessary to possess some kind of supernatural power. However, the Buddha did not want to display his divine power needlessly, and never once came to this land.
The leaders of other religious groups thought this was because the Buddha lacked that power, and attacked him. The Buddha’s disciples, who knew that he possessed great divine powers, once begged him to demonstrate that power, but the Buddha did not consent. The leaders of other sects, who were finally convinced that there was no divine power, approached Sudatta through their patrons, other wealthy and influential people, and challenged Sudatta to a match of divine power with the Buddha. The condition is that whoever loses will leave this place. Finally, Sudatta could not refuse and asked the Buddha to play.
I passed it. Or perhaps Sudatta also wanted to see the divine powers of the Buddha.

That day, at the end of a showdown between the leaders of other sects who competed in various supernatural powers, the Buddha revealed himself.

Just as I thought, “Buddha has fallen!”, the Buddha slowly levitated into the air, passing over the heads of the masses of people gathered in the garden, and finally standing on the pond of the garden, filled with pure, pure water. Make small waves in the breeze
The Buddha stands calmly above the water of the refreshing pond. The next moment the crowd burst into tears, the upper half of the Buddha’s body burst into flames, and the lower half of his body turned into a bead of water.
All the people, including Namiru, the leaders of other religious sects and local powerful people, bowed down on the spot and were unable to lift their heads at the great divine power they witnessed.
I put my hand on his forehead and listened to his teacher’s explanation. Halfway through, I suddenly felt a soft vibration and a stream of conceptual thinking flowing deeply into my brain. I, his wife, completely ignored his thoughts and accepted them wholeheartedly. Suddenly, a terrible shudder ran through me. It was an attack of indescribable terror, as if all the blood in his body was draining all at once. When that was finished, the teacher’s explanation was also finished.
“Teacher, what does he mean when he says that his upper body turns into fire and his lower body turns into water?”
Someone asked me a question.
“Oh, well, the chakras in his entire body must have radiated energy with tremendous power. In order to levitate, Buddha concentrated his tremendous energy in the chakras of his entire body. He landed on the pond and released that energy.
