阿閦如来

物事に動じず、迷いに打ち勝つ強い心を授ける仏

東の彼方、世界がまだ清らかな光に満ちていた頃――
そこには「妙喜世界」と呼ばれる、揺らぐことのない浄土があった。
その中心に坐すのが、阿閦如来（あしゅくにょらい）。
人々は彼を、サンスクリットの名にちなんで「アクショーブヤ」――
すなわち「決して動じぬ者」と呼んだ。
怒りに揺れぬ心。
誘惑に曇らぬ誓い。

誰かが嘲ろうとも、誰かが刃を向けようとも、
その心は湖の底のように澄み、波立つことがなかった。
青く静かなその身は、夜明け前の空を思わせ、
左手には衣の端を静かに握り、
右手は大地に触れていた。

――この世界の真実は、ここにある。
――私は、迷いの中にあっても揺るがぬ。
そう語らぬまま、阿閦如来は大地に証を求める。
それは、悟りが空想でも夢でもなく、
この現実の土と、涙と、苦しみの上に成り立つものであることを示す仕草だった。
彼の智慧は「大円鏡智」と呼ばれる。

それは、すべてを歪めず、拒まず、
ただありのままに映し出す鏡のような智慧。
怒りも、恐れも、欲望も――
そこに映れば、もはや人を縛る鎖ではなく、
悟りへと至る光の素材となる。

密教の五智如来の一尊として、
阿閦如来は静かに世界を支えている。

激動の世にあって、心が揺れそうになるとき、
人はふと、東の空を仰ぐだろう。
そこには、決して動じぬ青の仏が、
今日も変わらず、
すべての衆生に向けて、
沈黙のまま、確かな安らぎを放っている。

The Gate of Breath, the Gate of Mind

夜明け前の堂に　ひとり坐して
風も虫も　息を止める
吐いて捨てる　重たい影
息の奥に　光が芽吹く

Alone, seated in the hall before dawn,
Even wind and insects hold their breath.
Exhaling, I release the heavy shadows;
Deep within the breath, light begins to grow

Exhale — cut away — return to stillness.
Inhale — observe — let the heart grow clear.
Like fire, I kindle my will,
And at the gate of breath, I awaken.
