前述のように弥勒の下生は56億7千万年後とされているが、この気の遠くなる年数は、弥勒の兜率天での寿命が4000年であり、兜率天の1日は地上の400年に匹敵するという説から、下生までに4000×400×12×30＝5億7600万年かかるという計算に由来する。そして、後代になって5億7600万年が56億7000万年に入れ替わったと考えられている。

その未来仏の出現する時代は厳密には定かではなく「遠い未来」の比喩ではないかとの説もある。弥勒菩薩はバラモンとして娑婆世界に出世して、シッダッタ同様に出家したのち竜華樹下で悟りを得て、三度にわたり説法を行い多くの人々を救うという（これを竜華三会という）。『弥勒下生経』には、初会96億、二会94億、三会92億の衆生を済度すると説いている。なお、現在の弥勒はまだ修行者(菩薩)だが、遠い未来の下生の姿を先取りして弥勒如来、弥勒仏と呼ばれることもあり、如来形の仏像も作られている

LiDARスキャナを実現するためのコアデバイスになっているのが、デュアルカメラの横に組み込まれたToF（Time of Flight）センサーだ。ToFセンサーは、別途に組み込んだ赤外線LEDなどの光源から発した光が対象物で反射し、ToFセンサーに届くまでの光の飛行時間（時間差）を検出することで対象物までの距離を測定する。
