六 破滅

わたくし が＊ 聞い た ところ に よる と、 ある とき 師（ ブッダ）

ブッダ） は、 サーヴァッティー＊ の ジェータ 林＊、〈 孤独 なる 人々 に 食 を 給する 長者〉 の 園 に おら れ た。 その とき 一人 の 容色 麗しい 神 が、 夜半 を 過ぎ た ころ、 ジェータ 林 を 隈 なく 照らし て、 師（ ブッダ） の もと に 近づい た。 近づい てから 師 に 敬礼 し て 傍ら に 立っ た。 そうして その 神 は 師 に 詩 を以て 呼びかけ た。

九 一 　「 われ ら は、〈 破滅 する 人〉 の こと を ゴー タマ＊（ ブッダ） に お たずね し ます。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？ 　 師 に それ を 聞こ う として われ ら は ここ に 来 た の です が、。

」 九 二 （師 は 答え た）、「 栄える 人＊ を 識別 する こと は 易く、 破滅 を識別 する こと も 易い。 理法 を 愛する 人 は 栄え、 理法 を 嫌う 人＊ は 敗れる。」 九 三 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第一 の 破滅 です。 先生！＊ 　 第二 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」 九 四 　「 悪い 人々 を 愛し、 善い 人々 を 愛する こと なく＊、 悪人 の ならい を 楽しむ＊。 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。

」 九五 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第二 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第三 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

九 六 　「 睡眠 の 癖 あり、 集会 の 癖 あり、 奮励 する こと なく、 怠り なまけ、 怒り っぽい ので 名だたる 人 が いる、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」 九 七 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第三 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第四 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

九 八 　「 みずから は 豊か で 楽 に 暮し て いる のに＊、 年老い て 衰え た 母 や 父 を 養わ ない 人 が いる、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」 九九 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第四 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第 五 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への門 は 何 です か？」

一 〇 〇＊ 　「 バラモン または〈 道 の 人＊〉 または 他 の〈 もの 乞う 人＊〉 を、 噓 を つい て だます＊ なら ば、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」 一 〇 一 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第 五 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第六 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

一 〇 二 　「 おびただしい 富 あり、 黄金 あり＊、 食物 ある 人 が、 ひとり おいしい もの を 食べる なら ば、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」 一 〇 三 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第

第六 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第 七 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

一 〇 四 　「 血統＊ を 誇り、 財産 を 誇り、 また 氏姓＊ を 誇っ て い て、 しかも 己 が 親戚 を 軽 する＊ 人 が いる、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」 一 〇 五 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第 七 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第 八 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

一 〇 六＊ 　「 女 に れ、 酒 に ひたり、 博 に 耽り、 得る に したがっ て 得 た もの を その 度 ごと に 失う 人 が いる、 これ は 破滅への 門 で ある。」 一 〇 七 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第 八 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第九 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

一 〇 八＊ 　「 おの が 妻 に 満足 せ ず、 遊女 に 交わり、 他人 の 妻 に 交わる、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。

」 一 〇 九 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第九 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第 十 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

一一 〇 　「 青春 を 過ぎ た 男 が、 ティンバル 果＊ の よう に 盛り 上っ た乳房＊ の ある 若い 女 を 誘き 入れ て、 かの 女 について の 嫉妬 から 夜 も 眠ら れ ない、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」

一一 一 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第 十 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第 十一 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」 一一 二 　「 酒肉 に 荒み、 財 を 浪費 する 女＊、 または この よう な 男 に、 実権 を 託す なら ば、 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。」

一一 三 　「 よく わかり まし た。 おっしゃる とおり です。 これ が 第 十一 の 破滅 です。 先生！ 　 第 十 二 の もの を 説い て ください。 破滅 への 門 は 何 です か？」

一一 四 　「 クシャトリヤ（ 王族） の 家 に 生まれ た 人 が、 財力 が 少い のに＊ 欲望 が 大きく て、 　 この世 で 王位 を 獲よ う と 欲する なら ば、 　 これ は 破滅 への 門 で ある。 一一 五 　 世の中 には この よう な 破滅 の ある こと を 考察 し て、 　 賢者・すぐれ た 人 は 真理 を 見 て、 　 幸せ な 世界 を 体得 する＊。」
