薬師如来(やくしにょらい)とは？

病気を治して衣食住を満たすという「十二の大願」を立て、生きている間に願いを叶えてくれます。阿弥陀如来のように死んだ後にやすらぎを与えるのではなく、現世にやすらぎを与えてくれるのが特徴です。昔の作例はとくに病気平癒を願ったものが多数存在します。

日光菩薩と月光菩薩を脇侍として三尊として並ぶことが多いです。さらに、７体の薬師如来で息災・増益を祈願する修法の本尊である七仏薬師というものも存在します。また、眷属として十二神将を従えています。

Nikko Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva are often lined up as a Sanzon with side samurai. In addition, there are seven Yakushi Nyorai statues called Shichibutsu Yakushi, which are the principal images of Buddhist rituals that pray for good health and increased profits. In addition, he has the Twelve Divine Generals as his followers.

He holds a medicine pot (yakko) in his left hand, and his right ring finger is out in front. I don’t have any other decorations. However, many of the sculptures up to the Nara period do not have medicine pots, making it difficult to distinguish them from Shaka Nyorai.
