和讃（わさん）は、仏・菩薩、祖師・先人の徳、経典・教義などに対して和語を用いてほめたたえる讃歌である。声明の曲種の一。サンスクリット語を用いてほめたたえる「梵讃」、漢語を用いてほめたえる「漢讃」に対する。
七五調の形式の句を連ねて作られたものが多く、これに創作当時流行していた旋律を付して朗唱する。
原型である「讃歎」（さんだん）を和讃の一種とみなす事もある。
和讃というのは、日本語でできた、仏さまを讃える歌という意味です。讃というのは、文字どおり、誉め讃えるということです。
ふつう仏教で讃という場合、たいてい漢文のものをさしますので、日本語でできた讃を和讃と呼ぶわけです。キリスト教でいう讃美歌と思えばよいです。

「帰命頂礼仏舎利尊」
さて、どのような和讃でも、たいてい帰命頂礼ということばではじまっております。
まず帰命というのは、「南無」の意訳で、命をかけて帰一する、仏さまに心からお仕えする、という意味です。阿含宗の聖典に「南
だいじだいひほっしんだとにょいほうじゅそん無大慈大悲法身駄都如意宝珠尊」とありますが、あの南無です。この南無というのぱサンスクリット語の「ナマス」をそのまま漢字に音写したもので、さきほどお話ししたように、仏さまへの深い帰依をあらわすことばです。
それから頂礼というのは、頂に礼するという心味です。
