一八六六年、ドイツの自然学者であり、生物学者であったヘッケル（Ｅｍｓｔ

「生物の個体発生はその系統発生をくり返す」
という有名な生物発生法則である。
これは、生物の個体発生は、系統発生のあとをたどるというものである。

形態を、母胎において、つぎつぎとくり返していくのである。つまり、それま
での自分の歴史をたどるわけである。
まず、この世界における生命の発生は、原始海洋における一匹の微小なア
メーバの誕生からはじまる。そのアメーバは、たぶん、オパーリンのいうよう
に、コアセルベーションによって形成されたのであろうが、それがしだいに進
化していって、原生動物から、魚、イモリ、カメ、ウサギ、サル、というよう
に変化してきたわけである。
現代における人間の発生も、そのもっとも最初は、アメーバとまったく変わ
らぬ形態をした一匹の精虫である。母胎内の胎液（羊水）は、原始海洋の成分と
同様であり、そこで一匹の精虫は、原始の海で成長をはじめたアメーバのよう
にたくましく成長をはじめる。
三、四週間たつと、それは、明らかに魚のかたちに進化している。つまり、魚
の時代に入ったのだ。その尾は魚のような平たい尾を持っており、のどにはエ
ラの穴のような四対のさけ目が生じ、血管もまた魚のとおりに配置されてい

六ヵ月たって、サルとおなじになってきて、足など、サルのようにものをつ
かみやすい構造になっている。が、これも間もなく変化して、ヒトの足のかた
ちになってくる。
そして七ヵ月のなかばごろから、ビトはヒト独白の形態を示してきて、ヒト
に最も近いサルともはっきりちがったかたちをあらわしてくる。原始人ではあ
ろうけれども、はっきりヒトの段階に入ったわけである。
このように、人間は、十ヵ月の胎児時代に、人間発生以来の歴史、それはお
よそ十億年くらいであろうと推定されるのであるが、その長い歴史をくり返す
わけである。
以上、ヘッケルは、このことを、生物学的・解剖学的に立証した。
つまり、人間の胎児は、母胎内において、過去の進化のあとを、そのままの
形態の上でたどるということである。そうして、ヘッケルは、生物学者という
立場からであろうが、それ以上には進まなかった。すなわち、胎児は形態の上
で歴史をくり返すというだけで、胎児の意識の面にはまったく２ れなかったの
だ。
胎児は十億年の記憶を持つ
けれども、胎児は母胎内において、まったく石ころのようになんの意識も持
たないで過ごすなどということは考えられないことではないか。
わたくしは、ヘッケルのこの説の上に立って、胎児は、その形態だけ過去の
歴史をくり返すのではなく、その形態に応じて、過去の歴史をその意識の上で
ちくり返すものと考えるのである。
胎児は、当然、胎児としての意識を持つであろう。意識を持っているなら
ば、そのときの形態に応じた意識を持つのが当然である。すなわち、魚とおな
じ形態をしているとき、胎児は魚の時代であったときの意識を持ち、サルとお
なじ形態を示しているとき、胎児は、サルの時代であったときの意識をたどっ
ているわけである。
ところで、記憶とはなにかというと、過去の経験意識の蓄積である。
そのように意識が逆行して発生展開のあとをたどっていくということは、要
するに、経験意識をくり返しているということにほかならず、それは結局、過

束縛からの心の解放
【般若心経瞑想法上映】
いま、ご覧いただきましたように、水は千変万化いたします。わたく
したちの心も、また、水と同じように、瞬間、瞬間に変化します。わた
くしは、この映像の中で、「人のこころの内に、敷き、悲しみ、喜びの、
一定の性があるわけではない」と申しました。
そうです。千変万化する永の動きを見つめる心で、わが心を見つめる
のです。決して、自分の心を束縛しては、いけません。眼前の事物にと
らわれてはいけません。そこから自分の心を解放するのです。水の動き
に任せて、本の流れるように、すべての現象を眺めます。
いま、皆さまは深い悲しみの中にあります。凶悪なテロに倒れられた。
家族や友人、そして、同僚、多くの同胞への圧倒的な深い悲しみを感じ
ておられると思います。それを感じるということは、皆さまが真の愛に
満ちた心を持っておられるからです。それゆえに、悲しみの最中にある
皆さまに、あえて申し上げたい。その悲しみを感じる心があるからこそ、
豊かな喜びもまた、感じることができるのです、と。
わたくしたち人間は、歩きます。走ります。ときには、つまずきます。
そして、日々の暮らしの中で、ともに笑い、喜び合い、抱き合い、慰め
合います。
わたくしたちが生きる地球には、太陽の光がさんさんと降り注ぎ、そ
して、命を育む雨が降り注ぎます。風が吹き、雲が流れ、大海原が広が
つております。わたくしたち人間を含め、森羅万象、ひとつとして変わ
らないものはありません。生きとし生けるものすべては生々流転、とど
まることなく変化しております。その変化の中に、わたくしたちの営み
はあるのです。
そのさまざまに千変万化する奥に、全く変わらない不滅のものがあり
ます。それが真理です。その真理に到達するために瞑想します。
真理に到達したとき、人は、この上なく静寂で安らかな、この上ない
喜びを感じます。限りない喜びを感じます。それが、ブッダの教える「ニ
ルヴァーナ」の世界なのです。
ニルヴァーナに到達したとき、人はほんとうに生きる喜びを感じます。
そして、その生きる喜びを他のすべての人と共有したいと感します。そ
して、それが人類愛に通ずるものであることを理解します。
わたくしたちの世界は常に変化しており、森羅万象の生々流転が、自
然のリズムを刻んでおります。
しかし、この、大切な自然のリズム、そして、秩序を破壊し、脅かす
ものがあります。それこそがテロリズムであります。このテロは民主主
義の全否定であり、なによりも、愛の心を傷つけるものと思っておりま
す。
世界平和の基本は、すべての人の真の愛と、最高の智慧から築かれま
す。
世界平和が来るように、世界平和が来るようにと、いくら声高くスロ
ーガンを叫んでも、それだけで世界平和が来るものではない。一人一人が平和になり、界中の家庭一軒一軒が残らず平和にならなけ
れば、世界平和ではないのです。
それは、世界中の人、一人一人が、一人残らず、ブッダの智慧と慈悲
を身につけて、歩みはじめてこそ、悪しきカルマは断ち切られて、真の
世界平和が来るのです。
わたくしたちの普段の営みを脅かす存在に敢然と立ち向かう人々の心
には、平和を希求する心が燃え立っているのを知っております。それゆ
え、わたくしは、今日、あえて、世界平和を訴えました。
「ギャーテイ、ギャーテイ、ハーラーギャーテイ、ハーラーソウギャー
テイ、ボージーソーワーカー」
「歩めよ、歩め、ただ歩めよ、世界平和と家庭の平和を築くために」
般若心経は、そう教えています。
今日は、皆さまとともに祈ることができました。そして、皆さまとと
もに祈る熱い感動をいただき、わたくしは、宗教者としての最高にして
真実なる幸せを感じております。
いま、世界が直面している問題の解決の一目も早からんことを祈って
やみません。そして、アメリカとニューヨークに神仏のご加護がありま
すように祈ります。
新たな復興による素晴らしい未来に向かおうとしているニューヨーク

あなたは信じられるだろうか？

では、いったい、われわれは、どれはどの。眠れるニューロン″を持っているのだろうか？

「……脳神経系の単位はニューロンという個々の極微の細胞である。人間の頭脳のなかには百億以上のニューロンがあり、それぞれの比較的大きいものは、他のニューロンと平均一万個以上のシナプスという連結を持っている。それによって作り得るネットワークーパターツや、神経のインパルスを伝え得る道の数は、宇宙のなかの物質を作る粒子の総数よりもはるかに大きいのである。」」
ニューロンの数は、正確にはおよそ一四〇億ある。
ところが、われわれが実際に使っているのは、わずかにそのニパーセットから五八Ｉセットに過ぎないのである。もしも、われわれが、この眠れる脳細胞をゆり起こして、それをフルに利用することができたらＩ？ どんなにすばらしい仕事ができることであろう／
しかし、現実には、われわれはそのＩ〇〇分の二、三しか使っていないのである。
私は、私自身にたいしてまことに残念でならない。
それは、ちょうど、莫大な埋蔵量を持つ金鉱か、無尽蔵なダイヤモンド鉱を目の前にして、これを掘り出すことのできない口惜しさである あなたもそう感じないか？
われわれは、いまや、頭脳に関する迷信を即刻あらためなければならぬ。
頭がいいとか、わるいとかいうのは間違いなのだ。
問題は、人がどれだけのニューロンを使っているか、または使っていないかということなのである。

もしも君が頭がわるく、知能が低いと歎くなら、悲観ナるのはやめたまえ。人よりわずかに一、ニパーセント、ニューロンの動きが少ないというだけのことだ。ただそれだけのことに過ぎない。奮発して、五、六八Ｉセントもよけいにニューロンを動かしたらいいではないか。

そんなことは不可能だって？
バカをいいたまえ、ここにちゃんとその方法がある。
知能開発、ニューロン覚醒、大脳皮質改造の技術がここにある。
このシステムで訓練すれば、眠れる君のニューロンはたちまち目ざめ、君の知能は三倍にな

それは、ヒトを全くべっな生物に変えてしまう超技術だ。

たしかに、ヒトには、この二つの面かおる。賢い知恵ある面と、愚かで弱い面と、二つの面がひとつにまざり合っている矛盾した生物が、まさにヒトであるということなのだが、いま、われわれの周囲をながめてみると、ホモーサピエンスは全く影をひそめ、ホモースツルチッシムスが妖怪のごとく横行している。
殺し合い、奪い合い、憎み合い、傷つけ合いＩ、
それは次第にエスカレートしてゆく。科学と技術はヒトの力を無限に拡大したが、同時に、ヒトの殺戮と搾取と憎悪と闘争をも無限に増大させた。このままでは、問もなく、ホモーサピエンスは絶滅ナる。
この地上に展開する恐るべき大愚行は、なによりもまず人類の知能が低いところに原因する。

歴史をみてみよう。機械と技術、科学と文明と称するものがいくら進歩発達しても、おろかな人間たちの行動パターンは少しも変わっていない。つねに、憎み合い、殺し合い、奪い合う、このパターンのくりかえしではないか。どこに変化が見られるか。
若ものよ。エネルギーのむだな燃焼をやめたまえ。革命を思うなら、全人類の知能革命に前進せよ。
ネアンデルタールの昔から、ヒトの知能は一歩も前進していない。なによりもまず人類の知能を高めねばならぬ。
ホモースツルチッシムスを絶滅せよ。そうせぬかぎりわれわれにもはや未来はない。それはすでに秒読みの段階に入っている。

今までとはまったく構造の変わった社会体系があらわれようとしていることを、君は知らねばならぬ。
もしも。
そういう高度の知能が出現しないかぎり、世界は間もなく終わるだろう。ホモーサピエッスが今の知能水準であるかぎり、もはや、ヒトに未来はない。ホモーサピエッスの文明はすでに限界に達した。
だから。
未来社会があるとすれば、どうしてもそれは、高度なまったく新しい社会でなければならぬのだ。
もう間もなくやってくる未来社会で、人類は二つの種属にわかれるだろう。
それは、二つの民族でもないし、二つの階級でもない。二つの種属である。

たしかに、それは、有色人種と白色人種、自由社会と共産圏社会、富める者と貧しき者、支配する者とされる者、と、いくつか、かぞえることができるだろう。
だが、ちがうのだ。
そういう分類とはまったく異質の区分が、ごく近い将来、われわれの世界にあらわれようとしている。そういう動きが、ナでに現在おこりつつある。
あたらしい人類とふるい人類－。
ひとつは普通の現代人、ホモーサピエンスＨｏｍｏ ｓａｐｉｅｎｓである。これがふるい人類だ。
もうひとつは、特殊な能力を身につけた未来人、ホモーエクセレンスＨｏｍｏ ｅχｃｅｌｌｅｎｓ である。つまりあたらしい人類だ。
ホモ・サピエンスとは、ほかならぬわれわれ自身のことであるが、ホモーエクセレンスとは、どういうヒトか？
ホモーエクセレンスとは、ホモーサピエンスが持だない特別な能力を身につけた「優秀なるヒト」という意味である。ある人たちは、この未来人に、ホモーインテリダンス（聡明なるヒト）という名をつけている。
では、この優秀なる未来人、ホモーエクセレンスは、どういう特殊な能力を持っているのか？
彼の持ついくつかの特長をあげてみよう。
と、世界的に著名な人類学者、パリ大学のジョルジューオリヴィエ教授は、その著「ヒトと進化、過去現在そして未来」のなかでこう語りはじめる。
「（こういうきわめてすぐれた生物の能力を、それよりはるかに劣ったわれわれが、あれこれいうことはできないが）とにかく、この超・ヒトの知的能力は、辛うじて想像することができる。
わたしは、脳発達度係数三・九をもつ生き物の体のかたちや、すばらしい知能や、われわれにはとうてい理解できない行動がどんなものであるかは、想像力のゆたかな人達にまかせることにする。われわれがメクラであるのに対して、われわれの後継者たちは千里眼の持ち主なのだろうから」（芦沢玖美訳・みすず書房刊）
と述べている。
オリヴィエ教授は、出版社の紹介文によると″パリ大学理学部人類学教授であり、人類学、解剖学のかず多い論文のほかにいくつかの著書を持ち、そのなかでも「人類学的解剖学」はフランス学士院賞を受けた。自己の専門分野の研究に多くの業績をあげているばかりでなく、若い研究
者の育成にも心をそそぎ、フランス人類学の名実ともにすぐれた指導者である″と記されている。
まさに、当代一流の科学者であるといわねばならない。
その科学者が未来人ホモーエクセレンスの出現を、このように予告しているのである。著者が、なんの根拠ももたず、ただいたずらに鬼面ひとをおどろかす筆をとっているのではないのだ。それはかならずやってくる。では、そのホモーエクセレンスは、いったい、どこから、いっやってくるのだろうか？
未来人、ホモーエクセレンスの到来は、歴史の必然であるとオリヴィエ教授はいう。
では人類の歴史をたどってみよう。
まずあらわれたのは、オレオピテクス、ラマピテクスから進化してきたオーストラロピテクス（猿人）であった。が、しばらくして、ピテカントロプスーエレクトス（原人）がこれにとって
かわった。しかし、まもなく、ネアンデルタール人（旧人）がやってきて、そのあとを継ぎ、彼らの時代はおよそ１〇万年ちかくっづく。
けれども、今から四、五万年ほど前、かなり進んだ知能を持つクロマニョッ人（新人）が出現すると、彼らは急速に姿を消して絶滅してしまった。しかしそのクロマニョッ人も、今から一万年ほどまえに、オーストラロイド（ジャワ）、モンゴロイド（中国）、ネグロイド（アフリカ）、コーカソイド（ヨーロッパ）というあたらしい現世人類の種のなかにあわただしく消滅してしまった れは、歴史のごく表面にあらわれているだけの事実で、このほかにも、いくつかの知られざるヒ
ト・属、あるいはその分枝が、無数にあらわれ、歴史をつくる間もなく消滅していったと考える学者はかず多い。

およそ、密教には、世間一般にはほとんど知らされることなく、全くといっていいほど手垢（てあか）の付いていない、秘された古来からの予言がある。特に金剛界、胎蔵界の大法と一体セットになっている金胎両部のマンダラは、一般に密教学者の先生方が詳しく解説される以上にもっと深い意味が封じ込まれている。これらマンダラの真意を探ると、今現在、西暦2000年以降を表わしていると思われる、不思議な予言暗号が、随所にちりばめられている事に気付く。
現実に今後、姿を表すであろうことがはっきりと語られる予言経が密教経典の中には存在している。『現在賢劫千仏名経』がそれであり、今現在を表わす重大な予言ともいえる経典である。
『現在賢劫千仏名経』について、この駄都如意求聞持聡明法の実践編として著されたのが『求聞持聡明法秘伝』阿含宗桐山管長著である。この著書の後書きともいえるｐ.364以降、数ページに『古代インドの賢人伝説』として著されている。
その内容によると、古代インド聖者の伝説として、現在の地球に一大危機が訪れて、壊滅に瀕するとき、千人の賢人が現れて、これを救う、というものである。この内容は仏教にも取り入れられ、『現在賢劫千仏名経』となり、智恵のマンダラである金剛界マンダラの中心、根本成身会（こんぽんじょうしんね）の第二重の方形帯に描かれた、千仏の仏たちである。これを『賢劫の千仏』という。今の地球世代が『賢劫』とされ、賢人が現れて、危機を救う世代という意味を持つ。師が体得された駄都如意求聞持聡明法は、古代インドの伝説的予言をそのまま著しているかのような人間改造の技法に当たる。その技法の存在は、混沌とした時代の切り札のような意味をなしかけてきている。神仏の霊性をそなえ、神仏の叡智を持つ「賢劫の千仏」を作り出す、超技術として、駄都如意求聞持聡明法は、この著書に記されている。

『現象としての人間』に代表されるテイヤールのキリスト教的進化論は、当時、進化論を承認していなかったローマ教皇庁によって否定され、危険思想、異端的との理由で、その著作は禁書とされた（テイヤールの死後になって、禁書処置は解かれた）。
しかし『現象としての人間』は、草稿版の複写が作成され、回覧されて、多数の人の読むところとなった。テイヤールは、古生物学上での人類の進化過程を研究し、人類の進化に関する壮大な仮説を提示した。
宇宙は、生命を生み出し、生物世界を誕生させることで、進化の第一の段階である「ビオスフェア（生物圏、Biosphère）」を確立した。ビオスフェアは、四十億年の歴史のなかで、より複雑で精緻な高等生物を進化させ、神経系の高度化は、結果として「知性」を持つ存在「人間」を生み出した。
人間は、意志と知性を持つことより、ビオスフェアを越えて、生物進化の新しいステージへと上昇した。それが「ヌースフェア（叡智圏、Noosphère）」であり、未だ人間は、叡智存在として未熟な段階にあるが、宇宙の進化の流れは、叡智世界の確立へと向かっており、人間は、叡智の究極点である「オメガ点（Ω点、Point Oméga ）」へと進化の道を進みつつある。
「オメガ」は未来に達成され出現するキリスト（Christ Cosmique）であり、人間とすべての生物、宇宙全体は、オメガの実現において、完成され救済される。これがテイヤールのキリスト教的進化論であった。

There is a prophetic sutra in the esoteric scriptures that clearly states that it will actually appear in the future. That is the “Present Bhadrakalpik Buddha Sutra”, which is a scripture that can be said to be an important prophecy that represents the present.
About “Bhadrakalpik Bhadrakalpik”, it was written by President Agon Shu Kiriyama of “Konmon Mochi Satoshi Homeiho Hidden” as a practical edition of this Dato Nyoi Satoshi Mochi Satoshi method. Since p.364, which can be said to be the postscript of this book, it has been written as “Legend of the Sages of Ancient India” on several pages.
According to the contents, the legend of the ancient Indian saint is that when a great crisis comes to the present earth and it is on the verge of destruction, a thousand wise men will appear and save it. This content was also incorporated into Buddhism and became “Currently the Wise Thousand Buddhas”, and became the second double square band of the Nemoto Seiseikai, the center of the Kongokai Mandala, which is the mandala of wisdom. These are the Buddhas of the Thousand Buddhas. This is called “The Thousand Buddhas of Kalpa”. The current generation of the earth is called “wise”, and it means the generation where wise men appear and save the crisis. The method of sagacity, which the teacher learned, is a technique of human remodeling as if he were writing the legendary prophecies of ancient India. The existence of that technique has become a trump card in a chaotic era. As a super-technique that has the spirituality of the gods and Buddha and creates the “thousand Buddhas of wiseness” with the wisdom of the gods and Buddha, the method of decency and wisdom is described in this book.

That is “Noosphère”, and human beings are still in the immature stage as being wisdom, but the evolutionary flow of the universe is toward the establishment of the wisdom world, and human beings are wisdom. “Omega” is the Christ Cosmique that will be achieved and emerge in the future, and human beings, all living things, and the entire universe will be completed and salvated in the realization of Omega. This was Teilhard’s theory of Christian evolution.
多くの分野で注目を集める「AI（人工知能）」。ディープラーニングのブレークスルーによって、2010年代に入り急速に発展しました。高度に進化したコンピュータの処理能力とソフトウェア技術によって実現するAIには、IoTやビッグデータの活用と並んで私たちの生活を大きく変える期待が寄せられています。本格的な普及時代が到来したAIは、これから私たちの暮らし、産業、社会をどのように変えていくのでしょうか。
カンファレンス前半は、特化したタスクしか処理できない「特化型AI」と進化型AIの概要、AIに関する研究開発の取り組み、AIを活用した未来医療の3テーマについて、各方面の有識者の方々にご講演いただきました。

今までのAIはいわゆる「特化型AI」と呼ばれます。チェスならチェス、将棋なら将棋など、特化したタスクしか処理できません。しかし特化型であるにしても、2020年になると、AIが実空間の幅広い局面で利用されるようになります。自動運転車や自律型のドローン、自動運転トラクターなどの「スマートマシーン（賢い機械＝自律的に動く機械）」が普及し始めるからです。2025年になると、言語の理解ができるAIが登場し、これがロボットに搭載されると、接客ロボットや執事ロボットが使われるようになります。そして2030年になると、「汎用型AI」が登場すると考えられています。これは、人間と同様に様々な状況で知性を働かせることができるAIです。人間は、様々なタスクをこなす汎用的な知性を持っていますが、将来はこういった汎用的な処理をこなすAIが誕生するということです。
2030年は、生産構造の劇的な変化である「第4次産業革命」が起きるとも言われています。これは、機械が人間にとって代わって生産活動を行うというものです。汎用型AIを始めとした技術を導入して生産のオートメーション化を高度に進めた国とそうでない国とでは、2030年以降、経済成長率に大きな開きが出てくる可能性があります。つまり私たちは今、分岐路に立たされているのです。企業でも個人でも、AIを活用できるかどうかによって、様々な局面で格差が開いてしまうだろうと考えられます。
それでは、私たち人間はどうすれば良いのでしょうか。まずはオートメーション化をもっと進める必要があります。現在は第3次産業革命の真っ只中です。もっとIT化を進める必要があり、同時にAIの研究者だけでなく、「AIを活用できる文系の人材」を増やす必要があります。その上で、人間は人間にしかできないクリエイティブな仕事に特化することを、企業は意識していかなければならないと思っています。

2016年度より文部科学省が「AIPプロジェクト」を開始しました。これはAI、ビッグデータ、IoT、サイバーセキュリティを含む統合プロジェクトで、このもとで理化学研究所は「革新知能統合研究（AIP）センター」を設立しました。AIPセンターは「次世代基盤技術の開発」「サイエンスを発達」「社会実装に貢献」「倫理・社会的課題への対応」「人材育成」の5つの事業を展開しています。
AIに関する研究開発は世界規模の競争ですが、主要な応用研究は既に予算規模の勝負になりつつあります。それに対し、基礎研究はまだまだ「個人勝負」の様相です。現在ブームになっているテーマを追いかけるのではなく、10年後に花咲くかもしれないテーマに賭けていくことが重要ではないかと思います。
昨今はディープラーニングが非常に注目されていますが、現状の技術では未だ解決できない問題もたくさんあります。今後もディープラーニングの基礎研究にしっかりと力を入れて、さらなるの性能・効率の向上につなげていきたいと考えています。
また、「ビッグデータ＋ディープラーニング」が現在盛んに研究されていますが、分析に必要なデータのラベル付けのコストが高いのが実用上の問題となっています。そこで、私たちは、「正例とラベルなし例からの分類」など色々な方法を試しています。機械学習の研究としては、ラベル付のコストが低くて学習の精度が高い手法を作ることが今後ますます重要になっていくと考えています。

私の研究室では精密医療や創薬の革新的な技術開発にフォーカスし、特にシミュレーション技術やAIを駆使した医療・創薬の高度化に取り組んでいます。精密医療では、人のゲノム情報が簡単に測定できるようになり、これを用いて個人の体質に基づいてより効果的で安全な治療の選択をするという研究が進んでいます。
例えば、ゲノム配列のコードがあればどんな病気になりやすいか、どんな薬が効きやすいかが分かります。個人ごとに分かれば精密な医療ができます。このような理由でゲノム医療＝精密医療が世界中で進んでいますが、そういった課題を解決するというところで、AIが非常に注目をされています。
ゲノム医療におけるAIとしては、IBMのWatsonがあります。日本でも日本人のゲノムを使ってしっかりとAIを作ろうということで、京大と富士通で日本版Watsonを作るプロジェクトを開始しました。
Watsonというのはがん治療で有名ですが、私たちはがんに限らず様々なゲノムのAIを目指しており、「予測」も可能なAIを、次世代のAIとして開発したいと思っています。
医薬品の開発において非常に問題なのが、開発のコストと時間です。開発の費用としては、だいたい1品目あたり1200億円位かかると言われています。また開発期間は10年以上かかると言われています。医療を高度化するには先進の医療が必要で、先進の医療を入れるためにはお金がかかります。こういう状況の中で私自身が目指しているのは、創薬にスーパーコンピュータとAIの技術を導入して、医薬品の開発コストを劇的に下げようということです。例えば開発期間で4年の短縮、あるいは業界全体で1.2兆円位の削減ができないかと考えています。
この時、スーパーコンピュータやAIの技術は非常に重要な武器になります。この意味で、日本のIT企業に大きな期待をしています。
カンファレンスの後半は、先に登壇した3名の方々にモデレータを加え、「AIの現状と未来」について、社会、ビジネス、倫理の3つの観点からパネルディスカッションの形で進みました。

モデレータの原裕貴は、「AIと社会」「AIとビジネス」「AIと倫理」という3つのテーマを設定。最初のテーマ「AIと社会」について、理化学研究所の杉山将氏は、特定のタスクに特化した「特化型AI」と人間のような知性を持った「汎用型AI」の間にはまだまだ大きな隔たりがあるとし、「現在、危惧されているような人間を駆逐するようなAIの出現を心配する必要はない」ことを説明しました。
京都大学の奥野恭史氏からは、医療分野におけるAIへの期待や関わりについて紹介がありました。奥野氏が専門とする医療分野は、日本が抱える社会問題そのもの。高齢化や医療費など、AIによって状況を好転させられるテーマが多くある一方、AIによる誤診などの心配も存在します。奥野氏は「AIが誤診をした時にどうするかという話がありますが、AIが出した回答で、すぐそのまま治療につなげることはありません」と説明。「医師がいるのですから、AIの補助を受けて医師が最終的な判断を下します。そういった所で厚労省とも話をしています」と、医療分野にAIが普及しても医師の存在が必要であることを強調しました。
また、たとえ専門外の医師であっても、AIを利用することで「ある程度の医学知識で安全な治療ができる」と、医療分野でAIに寄せる期待が大きいことを示しました。
駒沢大学の井上智洋氏からは、AIが普及することで労働者の分布傾向が変わり、クリエイティビティやマネージメントなどの頭脳労働に就く人がかなり増える可能性があることを紹介しました。
続く「AIとビジネス」に関するテーマでは、”AIによって仕事が失われるのか”を中心にディスカッションを展開しました。もし、AIによって今の仕事がなくなるのであれば、私たちはどうすれば良いのでしょうか。
これに対して井上氏は、「2045年くらいには全人口の1割くらいしか働いていない」というシナリオを公開。さらに、「現時点でもIT化によって仕事の内容や就労状況が変化していますが、ITのもっとインテリジェントなものをAIと考えた時に、これからますますAIの影響は高まっていくと考えられます」と、将来的な予測を示しました。
このような汎用型AIの登場について、杉山氏は「科学者の立場からは正確な年代は予測できませんが、近い将来ではないと思います。それまでにかなりのブレークスルーを続ける必要があるかもしれません」と意見を述べました。
また、「AIがすべての業種で人から仕事を奪うのか」という疑問については、奥野氏から「医療従事は人と人との触れ合いで、例えば患者は看護師がどう接したかによって癒やされ方が変わる。そういったことがAIにできるとは思えません」とし、さらに「医療の現場では、機械にできることはAIに任せるなど、人間の負担を減らす環境に期待したい」などの意見を述べました。
これに関して杉山氏は、「我々が研究している機械学習はAIの頭脳の部分ですが、AIのシステムが実際に社会に導入されて使われていく時には、人間と触れ合う部分の研究が大事になってきます」と説明。「AIの基礎技術が発展してかなり賢いものができたとすると、ある意味頭脳労働はなくなるかもしれませんが、本当に人間と触れ合う部分は最後まで残ると思っています」と、ホスピタリティのないAIの発展だけで社会や仕事の環境が激変することはないとの考えを示しました。
今後、AIが社会の中に浸透してくることは間違いがありません。しかし、その時に倫理の問題が問われることになります。例えば自動運転や医師の診療は、どこまでをAIに任せて良いのか。問題が起こった場合には誰が責任を取るのか。パネルディスカッションの最後には、「AIと倫理」についての意見交換を行いました。
医療に携わる奥野氏は、AIを利用する責任は”その人”にあるとの見解を示しました。「例えば医師が何か調べたいことがある時、今はGoogleで医師自身が情報を探しますが、そういう作業をAIが代わりに行うと、論文を読む時間のない医師は非常に助かるわけです。でもそれをどの辺で留めておくか、どう判断するかは最終的には医師の技量に関わってきます」
この他、杉山氏は、新入社員の採用選別にAIを利用するのは比較的簡単にできるが、人間が介さない選別で不具合があった場合の責任をどこに設定するか、といった懸案事項も紹介しました。
モデレータの原は、「AIは人間のための技術。普及と安全な運用に向けて解決すべき課題はまだまだ山積みの状態です。AIの導入は世界的な流れでもあり、その中で日本が遅れを取らないよう、制度の整備や投資の継続が必要です」と述べ、パネルディスカッションを締めくくりました。

And in 2030, it is thought that “general-purpose AI” will appear. This is an AI that can exercise intelligence in various situations like humans. Humans have general-purpose intelligence to handle various tasks, but in the future, AI that can handle such general-purpose processing will be born.
It is said that 2030 will bring about a dramatic change in the production structure, the “Fourth Industrial Revolution.” This means that machines carry out production activities on behalf of humans. There is a possibility that there will be a big difference in the economic growth rate after 2030 between countries that have introduced technologies such as general-purpose AI and have advanced production automation to a high degree, and those that have not. In other words, we are now at a fork. Whether companies or individuals can utilize AI, it is thought that disparities will open in various aspects.
So what should we humans do? First of all, we need to further automate. It is currently in the midst of the Third Industrial Revolution. It is necessary to promote more IT, and at the same time, it is necessary to increase not only AI researchers but also “human resources of humanities who can utilize AI”. On top of that, I think that companies must be aware that humans specialize in creative work that only humans can do.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology started the “AIP Project” in 2016. This is an integrated project that includes AI, big data, IoT, and cybersecurity, under which RIKEN established the Innovative Intelligence Integrated Research (AIP) Center. The AIP Center develops five businesses: “development of next-generation basic technology,” “development of science,” “contribution to social implementation,” “response to ethical and social issues,” and “human resources development.”
R & D on AI is a global competition, but major applied research is already becoming a budget-scale competition. On the other hand, basic research is still in the aspect of “individual competition”. I think it’s important to bet on a theme that may bloom in 10 years, rather than chasing the theme that is currently booming.
Deep learning has received a lot of attention these days, but there are still many problems that cannot be solved by current technology. We will continue to focus on basic research on deep learning to further improve performance and efficiency.
In addition, “big data + deep learning” is currently being actively researched, but the high cost of labeling the data required for analysis is a practical problem. Therefore, we are trying various methods such as “classification from positive and unlabeled examples”. As for machine learning research, I think it will become more and more important in the future to create methods with low labeling costs and high learning accuracy.
The future of medical care and drug discovery pioneered by AI and supercomputers

In my laboratory, I focus on the development of innovative technologies for precision medicine and drug discovery, and in particular, I am working on the advancement of medical care and drug discovery by making full use of simulation technology and AI. Precision medicine has made it easier to measure human genomic information, and research is underway to use it to select more effective and safe treatments based on the individual’s constitution.
For example, if you have the code of the genome sequence, you can know what kind of disease you are likely to get and what kind of medicine is effective. Precise medical care can be provided if it is known for each individual. For this reason, genomic medicine = precision medicine is advancing all over the world, and AI is drawing a great deal of attention in solving such problems.
IBM’s Watson is an AI in genomic medicine. In Japan as well, we have started a project to make a Japanese version of Watson at Kyoto University and Fujitsu with the intention of making AI firmly using the Japanese genome.
Watson is famous for cancer treatment, but we are aiming for AI of various genomes not limited to cancer, and we would like to develop AI that can be “predicted” as the next generation AI. ..
A major problem in drug development is the cost and time of development. It is said that the development cost is about 120 billion yen per item. It is said that the development period will take more than 10 years. Advanced medical care is required to advance medical care, and it costs money to include advanced medical care. Under these circumstances, my goal is to introduce supercomputer and AI technologies into drug discovery to dramatically reduce drug development costs. For example, we are thinking about shortening the development period by 4 years, or reducing the industry as a whole by about 1.2 trillion yen.
At this time, supercomputer and AI technologies become very important weapons. In this sense, I have great expectations for Japanese IT companies.
