強制運命を持たない人はいない
この悲劇は、決して特殊なものではないのである。
だれにだって先祖がある。先祖を持たない人はいない。したがって、だれだって先祖の強
制意識・強制運命を持たない人はいないわけである。
ただそれが強いか弱いかのちがいがあるだけで、大なり小なり、この悲劇を、人類は背負
っているわけだ。
つよい葛藤を持つ人は、この上なく不幸である。
その、心の深奥でおこなわれる深刻な葛藤のために、かれは、その心もからだも異常な状
態を呈する。・いわゆる「葛藤症状」をひきおこすのである。セリエは、欲求不満がひきおこ
すストレスの症状にういて語っているが、この場合は、深層意識の底辺において二つの意識
の激突がひきおこす強烈な魂のストレス症状だといってよいであろう。それは、精神病理学
でいう「強迫観念的状態」の症候をあらわす。
それはとくに、少年少女にもっとも顕著に見ることができる。
まず、衝動的である。異常なはにかみ、むらっ気、小心、心の振幅の度が大きく、極端か
ら極端にゆれ動く。感情の抑制ができない。てんかんタイプ、あるいはヒステリータイプの
気質が顕著である。
つぎに、分裂的で、心の集中と統一ができない。知能が高いのに学校の成績がいちじるし
く低い。気が弱く、神経質でありながら、時におどろくほどな残忍性、執拗性、暴力性をあ
らわす。またはソウウツ的症状となって、非常に快活で、はしやいでとめどなく饒舌になる
かと思うと、沈曇、無口となって自分の部屋にとじこもり出てこない。それでいてソウウツ
病ではないのだ。 。
以上の症候は、往々にして精神病者、「狂人」ではないかと思われる。しかし、決して狂人
ではないのだ。それは、すべて、正常な「自我」と、先祖の病的な強制意識・強制運命との
凄惨な葛藤から演じられる悲劇なのだ。これは、しばしば、専門医でさえもその真の原因を
把握しかねて、ただ「強迫観念的ノイローゼ症」と名づけて当惑していることがすくなくな
い。しかし、その根本原因をつかまなければ、これらの不幸な人たちは、生涯、その半精神
病的状態からぬけ出すことができないのである。
イギリスの精神病理学者で、この強迫観念的ノイローゼの世界的権威であるＡ・カーダム
ト゛は、この強迫観念的ノイローゼの症候分析で、つぎのように述べている。
強迫観念にとりつかれる人々は、強制的な思考や行動にはげしく動かされる。
強制的な行動はよく知られていて、かぞえきれないほどたくさんある。そうして、そ
うした行動もふたつのカテゴリー、つまり自抑。前者は、手すりの三本目ごとにさわるとか、舗石の隙間を踏まないで歩く、というような、無駄な、不合理な行為をふくんでいる
。手がよごれていようといまいと、それには関係なく、手を洗いたい・という絶えることのない衝動は、青年期にもっともふつうに見られる症候のひとつである。この段階の最先端に、着物を着たりぬいだりする入念な儀式的行為が位置しており、それ幾時間もつづく激しい苦痛をあたえる儀式に変わるのである。
毎晩、二、三時間かけて、家の錠をおろす患者がいた。このような儀式的行為において、意志は依然としてはたらいてはいるか、おのれに背いている。それは望まないことを患者にさせる。（傍線は桐山）
