りんぽう」とは、転輪聖王（てんりんじょうおう）が所有する七宝の一つです。転輪聖王は仏教における大乗仏教の信仰対象の一つで、悟りを開いた仏陀の中でも特に法王として尊ばれます。転輪聖王は、仏法を広めるために王として生まれ、民衆を救済するために治めました。
「りんぽう」は、もともと車輪の形をした古代インドの武器で、金・銀・銅・鉄の4種類があります。後に仏教に取り入れられ、転輪聖王が所有する七宝の一つとして位置づけられました。転輪聖王の所有物とされる「りんぽう」は、王の行くところ先行して四方を制するとされ、聖王を象徴するものとなっています。
“Rinpou” is one of the seven treasures owned by the “Tenrinjo-oh” or “Chakravartin” in Buddhism.
