ヒトを天才にする求聞持聡明法
求間持聡明法は、ヒトを聡明にし、天才にするという真言密教に伝わる秘法である。
弘法大師空海が、若くしてこれを修し、大天才となったということで、夙に知られてい
る。また、新義真言宗の開祖、興教大師覚鏝（一〇九五１一一四二）が、七度、この法を
修して成功せず、八度目に悉地を成じ、成功したと伝えられる。覚鏝上人ののこされた業
績をみれば、上人もまた天才でめったことは疑いない。ただ残念なことに、四十八歳で亡
くりれている。
真言密教の求聞持聡明法には、三種の法がある。
虚空蔵求聞持
観音求聞持
如意輪求聞持
であるが、ふつう、求間持法といえば、空海が修して有名な虚空蔵求間持をさす。この
つぶさ　　　　ぶつせつこくうぞうほさつのうまんしよがんさいしようしんだら・にぐもんじほう
法を、具には「仏説虚空蔵菩薩能満諸願最勝心陀羅尼求聞持法」という。
しかし、わたくしがこのたびこの本で発表する求聞持聡明法は、これらのいずれでもない。わたくしが独白に創成した求聞持法で、わたくしはこれに、だとによい
駄都如意求聞持聡明法と名づけた。
この駄都如意求聞持聡明法は、真言密教につたわる求聞持法とはまったくちがうものである。
二つの特徴がある。
それは、
一、クンダリニー・ヨーガのチャクラを覚醒して、超人的千不ルギーを発生させる。
二、その超人的干１　ルギーを、中国・道教につたわる導引・気功の持つ生気ルートに
のせて、体の各要所、要部にめぐらせ、行きわたらせる。殊に、大脳の中枢である間脳・視床下部に送りこむ。
この二つの方法を、独特の方法で完成したのである。これは、前人未踏の領域であるといってよいであろう。わたくしは、半生を、というより、一生をこの法の完成に注いだ。いまから約二〇年前に発行した『変身の原理』以来、わたくしの著書はこの本で四〇冊になるが、それらの著書のすべてが、この法の完成に至る道のりをあらわしたものであるといってよい。
わたくしは、この本で、わたくしの得たほとんどのものを、出来るかぎり、明らかにした。クンダリュー・ヨーガも、道教の導引・気功も、いずれも超人的能力を獲得するための
最高の法である。この世界にこれ以上の超能力開発法ぱない。この二つの法の欠陥を補正して融合させ、さらにあらたな創案をくわえて完成したこの駄都如意求聞持聡明法は、ヒ
トにおける究極の超能力開発法であると自負するのである。
もちろん、。後世おそる、べし”という諺の通り、今後、これ以上の超能力開発法も出るかも知れないが、しかし、それも、クンダリュー・ヨーガと導引・気功を融合させたこの駄
都如意求間持聡明法のライン以外のものではないであろうと確信している。
この法を、指導通りに修行するならば、確実に、ヒトの知能は二倍に、体力は三倍に飛躍強化されるであろうことを断言する。

天才は不老長寿でなければならない

求聞持聡明法は、たしかにヒトを天才にする。
しかし、いくら天才になっても、そのために、病弱になったり、若死にしたりしたのでは、なんにもならない。天才は、いつまでも若々しく、健康で、世のため、人のため、その才能を発揮するもの
でなくてはならない。（寝たっきりの天才など、まっぴらである）
求聞持聡明法修得をこころざしたわたくしは、つねに、四十八歳という惜しむべき短命に終わった興教大師党員上人が念頭にあった。上人は、おそらく、過酷な求間持法修行のため、法は成就したものの、体を痛め、寿命を損じたのにちがいなかった。
このことは、年少、結核を病んで何年も病床に伏した苦しい経験を持つわたくしにとり、その恐れの念が特に深刻であった。
しかし、この憂慮は、幸いにして杷憂におわった。
道教の導引・気功の秘法をとり入れたことが、この心配を吹きとばしてくれたのである。
すなわち、道教の導引・気功は、仙道の流れを汲むものである。そして仙道の理想は、不老長寿、生きながら神仙に化することを目標とする。
駄都如意求聞持聡明法は、特に不老長寿を目ざすものではなかったのだが、結果はそうなってしまったのである。
期せずして、仙道の理想が実現されることになったのだ。
神仙に化することだけはちょっとむずかしいが、不老長寿はかならず達成される。　わたくしぱ断言してよい。仙選の秘法がとり入れられているこの駄都如意求聞持聡明法
は、二十歳代の人ならば、三歳から五歳、中年以上の人ならば、十歳から十五歳、若返ることができるであろう。

あなたが高年者として修行に入り、年齢のために天才になれなかったとしても、いつまでも若々しい肉体と、そして決してボヶることのない求聞持脳だけは獲得できるであろう。

それは、三十七種の技法から成り立つもので、四神足というのは、その中心になる技術であ
る。神通、如意を得るための定を、四種類の手法に分けて説明している。
欲神足（願望、理想、創造のためのアプローチ）
勤神足（体と心のトレーニング法）
心神足（潜在意識のトレーニング法）
観神足（深層意識のトレーニング法）
きづまりを打破するために、大乗仏教のなかにとり入れられて体系化され、密教と呼ばれになったのである。いうわけで、密教は二つの面を持っている。

もっと忌憚なくいわしてもらうならば、（これは私がいうのではない。みんな密教の神サマが
おっしやるのであります）ちっとましなバカが、しょうのないバカに一心に教えを説いているというのが、いまの宗教のすがたというものではないのか？
宗教だけではない。科学と技術だってそうではないか。見さかいなくいい気になっていろんなものをつくり出し、あとで公害だ有害物質だと困っている。こういうおろかなことは、もう少し人類の知能が高くなったら、そんなバカなことはたのまれなくともしなくなる。要するに知能が低いからだ。
政治も、経済、思想も、みんなそうだと、あなたは真実思わないか？
要するに、すべて、″ヒトの知能が低い″ことに原因があるのである。
この世界を住みよく、たのしいものにするのには、革命ごっこよりもなによりもまず、ヒトの知能を高めることだ。そう、あなたは思わないか？
さて、話をもとにもどそう。
教えの限界とはヒトの知能の限界だ。
密教はその限界をうち破るのである。
技術によって超能力をあたえ、いっきょにヒトを改造して、宗教などという低い次元をいっぺんに飛び越し、想像を絶する叡智を持った、高い倫理的生物をつくり出そうというのだ。
それが、密教だ。

Such stupid things will not be uncommon if human intelligence becomes a little higher. In short, it has low intelligence.

In short, it’s all due to “low human intelligence”.
To make this world livable and enjoyable, first and foremost, to enhance human intelligence, rather than playing a revolution. Yeah, don’t you think?

The limit of teaching is the limit of human intelligence.
Esoteric Buddhism breaks that limit.
They are trying to give supernatural powers by technology, remodel human beings together, jump over the lower dimensions such as religion at once, and create highly ethical creatures with unimaginable wisdom.

女性が持つ因縁である。

夫の運気（生命カブを目に見えぬ力で損ね、削る。といっても、必ずしも、日常生活において夫を尻の下に敷いたり、夫を虐待するというのではない。もちろん、そういう場合もないことはないが、前にも書いたように、因縁というものは性格にあらわれる場合と性格にまったくあらわれぬ場合とがある。この因縁の場合もその通りで、むしろこの因縁を持つ女性はマメマメしく夫につかえる良妻賢母型に多いので始末に困る。江戸川柳「次の間で毒が薬を煎じてる」
という句があるが、これは、まさにこの囚縁を持つ女性をズバリと句にしていろものと感心させられる。

この句の意味は、亭主が年中病弱で寝ている、その家をたずねてみると、亭主の寝ている次の部屋で、若い美しい細君が、甲斐々々しく薬を煎じている。しかし実際は、この美しい細君が病身の亭主にとっては毒なのだ、というところから、細君が薬を煎じているのを、毒が薬を、と皮肉っているわけである。

この因縁を持つ女性を妻に持つと、その夫は年中病弱となるか、または仕事がうまくいかず、年中失敗したり、渋滞しがちとなる。生命力を削られるところから、運が非常に悪くなるのである。いかに才能、手腕があろうとも、必ず何か一つの不運につきまとわれる。細君が∵心につかえればつかえるほど、夫の運気が悪くなるのであるから厄介である。

世間によくあることだが、立派な細君を待った夫が、他に女性を作り、その女性よりも細君のほうがはるかに容色も頭もすぐれているので人が不思議がる例がある。これは、細君のほうに、この、夫の運気を剋害する因縁があるために、夫が、生命力自衛の本能から、

どんな因縁を持つか中年になってそういうことがよく起こるのは、もちろん、中年代で経済的に余裕が出来た
り、細君の容色が衰えてきたということも理由の一つにμなるが、根本的には、若いうちは、
夫のほうも生命力がつよいので妻の運気剋害にも平気で耐えられているから、それほど感じ
ないが、年をとるにつれて生命力が弱り、憩いの場が欲しくなってくるのである。
この因縁の強いものをもつ女性が、いわゆる「後家運」と呼ばれるもので、色情の因縁の
ある夫は、前記したように他の女性に逃避し、色情の因縁のない夫は、趣味に逃避したり、
仕事に没頭したりして、冷たい家庭となる。
もし、生命力の弱い夫であったら、死んでしまう。すなわち、後家運と呼ばれる所以である。女性としてしあわせな家庭を持とうと思ったら、まず切らばならぬ因縁である。
<h3>○夫婦縁障害の因縁</h3>
夫婦縁、結婚生活に障害が起きる因縁である。なんとなくお互いに性格が合わず、年中不満を持ちあってゴタゴタが絶えず、冷たい家庭になる。

または、お互いに愛情はあるのだが、どちらかが病気になって別居をよぎなくされる、とか、仕事の関係で別れ別れに住むことになる。シュウトなどの関係で夫婦仲がうまくいかぬ、など、とにかく、愛情の有無にかかわらず、結果的に夫婦仲がうまくいかない。離婚してしうままうというところまではいかぬが、とにかく、年中その一歩手前までいってゴタゴタしていまう。

にしても群衆にしても、だれひとりとして「家族」でなかったものはない。とすると、当然そこにひとつの無意識司が存在（または形成）されるはずである。

　では、その無意識層の中に、ゾンデ″はなにを発見したか？

　かれは、「家族的無意識」と名づける無意識層の中に、特殊な抑圧意識を発見したのである。

　それは、ひと口でいうならば、

　　「個人のなかに抑圧されている祖先の欲求が、恋愛・友情・職業・疾病および死亡における無意識的選択行動とたって、個人○運命を決定する」

というのである。

　ソンディはこういう。

　　「恋愛・友情・職業・疾病および死亡における選択の分析にもとづいて、選択の根源はこの家族的欲求」

　つまり、ひとの、恋愛、友情、職業、病気、死にかたまで、すべて、それらを決定するのは、そのひとのこころの深奥にひそんでいる祖先の抑圧された意識である、というのである。

 

　これは、個人の運命を形成するこれらの選択行動は、意識的・理性的な考慮の上に立つ決断にょって決定されるのではなく、（もちろん表面的にはそれがなされるが、実際には）選択行動は衝動行為であり、衝動的に選択する無意識的なものによって動かされるのだということである。（ここまではフロイトもほとんどおなじである。フロイトとちがうのは、その衝動が、その宗族－祖先－にふかい関連、かおるというのである

 

 

人はどんな因縁を持つか

 

これから、人の持つ因縁について解説するが、それでは、そういう母縁というものが、どうして人間にあるのか、ここでは、あるからある、というよりほかない。強いて聞かれるならば、それならあなたはどうしてそういう顔をしているのであるか寸９　かれた場合、あなた
は何と答えるか？・　こういう顔をして生まれてきたのだから、こういう顔をしているのである、とでも答えるほかないではないか。原因はともあれ、人間は、それぞれ様々な因縁を持って生まれて来、様々な因縁を持って生きているのである。その因縁という現象を分析、解説
してみよう。理屈は抜きにして、一読するならば、必ず、思いあたることがあろう。卵が先に生じたのか、鶏が先に生じたのか、それを知らなくても、卵を食べ、鶏肉を賞味するにはこと欠かぬのである。詳しくはあとの方で説明する。ここでは、まず、人間が誰でも持っている「因縁」の種類についてのべう。

 

○家運衰退の因縁　

この因縁は、家運、つまり家の運気が次第におとろえてきている家系に生まれている人が持つ因縁である。

こういう人は、父、あるいは祖父の代までは、かなりの生活をした家に生まれている人が多い。祖父か父の代あたりから、次第に家運が傾いてきている。そうして、自分の代になってからは、なお一層はっきりと運が悪くなっている。相当の力量、才能、手腕があるのだが、

それを発揮する場を持つこと、が出来ない。そういうチャンスを持つことが出来ない。そうして、自分よりも劣った者が追い越してゆくのを、みすみす歯ぎしりしながら見送ることになる。

たまにチャンスがめぐって来そうになると、人の妨害、邪魔に遭ったり、或いは自分の思わぬミスや病気などで、せっかくのチャンスを失ってしまう。要するに、二昌でいうと運、か悪いのである。実力がありな、がら、妙にめぐり合わせが悪く、ウダツがあがらない。年をとるほど運気がおとろえ、生活が悪くなっていく。

　これは、個人の運命を形成するこれらの選択行動は、意識的・理性的な考慮の上に立つ決断にょって決定されるのではなく、（もちろん表面的にはそれがなされるが、実際には）選択行動は衝動行為であり、衝動的に選択する無意識的なものによって動かされるのだということである。（ここまではフロイトもほとんどおなじである。フロイトとちがうのは、その衝動が、その宗族－祖先－にふかい関連、かおるというのである）

 

　それはなにかというと、ひとの運命を決定するものが、抑圧された祖先の欲求ばかりではないということである。それがすべてではないということだ。それは非常に大きな要因ではある、が、そればかりではないということである。

　なぜかというと、密教占星術によれば、運命の「時期」まで決定されているからである。ソンディ理論によれば、「形式」の形成の説明はつくけれども、「時期」が決定される説明はつかない。それは先祖の抑圧意識のほかにも要因、かおるからである。それについてのわたくしの理論と意見はここでは述べない。べつな機会にゆずることにする。かなりに厖大な址となるからである。

ソンディ理論は「平面彬成」（空間）の理論であり、このほかに「立体構成」（時間）の理論かおる。㈲の理論は、ソンディのごとく、心理学的方法でなされるが、時間の理論は数学的方法でなされ、かなりに難解なものになる。これはまたべつな一冊の書物となるであろう。

まさに、家運衰退のあらわれである。
この因縁があると、同居している親子、兄弟など、血縁の噺が、年中不和で詐が絶えない。これは、血縁の者同士でお互いの運気（生命力）を損ねあい、傷つけあっているので、無意識のうちに反発しあって争うのである。この場合、運気を傷つけあうといっても、必ずしも表面立って争いをするとは限らない。ただ同じ屋根の下に住んでいるというだけで、相手の運気（生命力）を損ねるのである。それはちょうど、何か目に見えない光線のようなものを放射しあって、相手の生命力を傷つけるように思われる。人間の生命というものは、自分を守るという自衛本能を持っているから、その本能がはたらいて、無意識のうちに生命力を結集して相手に反発する。その結果として、相手の何でもないような動作や一言一句が非常に気にさわる（神経が立っているので）。そこで静が始まるのである。肉親同士で異常に仲が悪いのぱこのためである。それに加えて財産などの利害関係がからむと、非常に深刻な争いに進展してく。
この因縁のある家庭で、もし、同居の肉親同士が不和でなければ、家族の中に誰か一人、年中病気で苦しむ者か、極端に不運で運の開かぬ不遇の者が必ず出る。
相当の才能、手腕がありながら、常にチャンスを逸したり、チャンスに恵まれない不遇の人、あるいは長年病弱の人は、前記の「中途挫折の因縁」か、または、この「肉親血縁相剋の因縁」によって運気（生命力）を剋害されているのではないかを疑ってみるべきである。どちらかの因縁があったら、それを断ち切らぬ限り、いくら努力しても一生空転するばかりなのだ。
この因縁を持つ人、（あるいはこの因縁のある家系）には、必ず、といっていいほど、霊的な障害がある。つまり、三代か四代前に、その家（またぱ人）を強く恨んで亡くなった怨念のホトヶがいるのである。
また、横変死した人の霊障を受けている場食がほとんどである。

　私は、いつも、この因縁をもつ親と子を見ると、毛をさか立てキバをむき出して、敵に噛みつこうと必死になっている仔犬の姿を思い出す。

　成功者の家庭に素行不良の子がわりに多いのは、他に原因はあるけれども、運気のつよい親はえてしてその運気のつよさが同時に子を剋する因縁をも伴ないやすいため、そういう結果を生じやすいのである。

　素行不良の子を持つ親、異常に親の言うことをきかぬ子を持つ親は、根本的な対策の一つとしてこの因縁の有無をまず調べてみよ。この因縁がなければ比較的容易に直るが、この因縁あるかぎり、絶対に直らぬのである。

 

この因縁は水子の霊障から生じていることが多い。

 

これは恩を仇で返す因縁である。

 

これも家運衰退の因縁に根ざすものである。

 

要するに、恩を受けた人（主人、師、上長、取引先、先輩など）をだましたり、傷つけたり、とにかく川ｒに何かしら損申‥をあたえる。μだしいのは（もしその者が刑獄の囚縁を併せ持っていたなら）殺して金品を奪ったりする。そこまでいかなくとも必ず恩義のある人を裏切りそむく。

　因縁というものは、必ずしも性格的なものとは限っておらぬので、「恩を仇で返す因縁」を待った者が必ずしも恩を仇で返すような性格を持っているとは限らない。中途挫折の因縁を持っている者が必ずしも薄志弱行型の性格を持っているとは限らぬ、と先に書いた通りである（もちろん、持っている因縁がそのままその人の性格になっている人もかず多いが）。

　この逆恩の因縁の場合も、性格としては、恩を仇で返すというようなものと反対に、∵心

に恩義にむくいようとする心がけを持っていて、そのように努力をしながら、かえって結果的には、その恩義を仇にして返すようなことになってしまうことがよくある。例えば、主人（会社）に忠実でＴ心に尽くすのだが、それがかえって主人（会社）のためにならぬような結果を生む。努力してお得意や取引先をつくると、その取引先が何千万、何億円という不渡り手形を出したり、倒産してしまったりして、主人（会社）に大きな迷惑をかけてしまう、というようなことになる。

　大体、自分にとって恩義のある人というのは、自分に好意を持ち、あるいは信用して、自分を引き立て、力になってくれる人である。こういう相手に、無意識とはいえそういう損害をあたえたり、そむいたりするということは、自分で自分の手足をもぐことである。自分の有力な味方を失うことになる。そこで孤立無援となり、人生の失敗者となってゆく。

　人を使う人、使われる人も、ともにこの因縁には注意が必要である。

夫婦縁破れる因縁　色情の因縁

　女性が持つ因縁である。

細君が病身の亭主にとっては毒なのだ、というところから、細君が薬を煎じているのを、毒が薬を、と皮肉っているわけである。

　この因縁を持つ女性を妻に持つと、その夫は年中病弱となるか、または仕事がうまくいかず、年中失敗したり、渋滞しがちとなる。生命力を削られるところから、運が非常に悪くなるのである。いかに才能、手腕があろうとも、必ず何か一つの不運につきまとわれる。細君が心につかえればつかえるほど、夫の運気が悪くなるのであるから厄介である。

因縁がカルマをかたちづくる Fate forms karma

業からの脱出いくつかの訓練の段階におけるその第一の課程は、自分の持つ業からの脱出である。人は生まれながらにさまざまな条件によってしばられている。そのものからだれも自由であり得ない。

考えてみれば、人間という名でよばれる存在そのものが束縛である。存在することがすでに奴隷である。だから、存在であらざるものになることが完全な解脱なのであって、密教はそれを目ざすのであるが、それはもっとずっと先になって君の追求すべきテーマになるだろう。ここでは存在するものの江かでの解説である。それを業の解脱という。業は因縁によって殺される。因縁がカルマをかたちづくる。この、カルマの解脱の行と並行して密教の修行がはじまる。そくばく

 

能力発のカルマの解脱をしない修行者は、修行がにとんとすすまたんされず、不浄なものにみたされ、『法』という清浄なるものに帰一同化することができないから

だから、修行の第一歩において、グル(師匠)は、修行者にカルマの解虎の法をさずける。

因縁で、黒自業とは同方が混合している業である。通常の人はほとんどこの紙の業に属している。ローギーはこれらのいずれの落からも超越するのである。

３　マニピューラーチャクラ

４　アナハターチャクラ

智恵の干不ルギーに同化してそこから聞くことができる。つまり、人の肉体はほろびても、その人の持っていた心のエネルギーはこの空間に痕跡をとどめているので、このチヤクラでその心の波動と同じ波動になれば、その心が持っていたすべてのもの、意識も、知能もみな自分と同化し

て自分のものになるということである。そういう意味で、このチヤクラに十分熟達すると、霊界（四次元）の世界と交流の道がひらけるのである。

 

 

 

５　ヴィシュダー・チャクラ

　このチヤクラは、また、命令のチヤクラ、願望成就のチヤクラ、自在力のチヤクラともいわれ、熟達すると、自然に命令してこれを自在に動かし、自由に支配ナることができるようになる。すなわち、八種の自在力をそなえるようになる。八種の自在力とは、前にも述べたように、山身体を極限まで小さくして、岩などを自由に通り抜ける力　即からだを大空にいっぱいになるほど大きくする力　即蓮の糸や綿くずよりも軽くなる力　㈲望みのままに、月にでも指をふれることができる力　即自分の意志するままに、どんなことがらでも実現できる力　㈲世界を創造し、支配する力　閉万物を自分の意のままに従わせる力　㈲大地のように身を重くすることのできる力、あるいは、自分の意欲の対象を必ず手に入れることのできる力、の八種である。

7　サハスララーチャクラ

　頭のなかの光明Ｍｕｒｄｈａｊｙｏｔioといわれるチヤクラである。Ｂｒａｈｍａ　ｒａｎｄｈｒａ梵の座、梵の裂け目という頭蓋骨の接合するところの真下に位置する。梵の座、梵の裂け目とは、梵すなわち聖なるもの、と一体になる場所という意味である。

　このチヤクラを目ざめさせると、この部位に光明があらわれて、燦然とかがやく。頭のなかの光明である。

「マインドフルネス」は、日本でも仕事に効く瞑想（めいそう）法としてブームになっている。その震源は世界的IT企業グーグルにある。2007年、グーグルはリーダーシップや集中力を高めるためのマインドフルネスプログラム「サーチ・インサイド・ユアセルフ（以下、SIY）」の開発に着手した。SIYは2009年より実施され、基本的なプログラムは2日間の集中研修プラス4～7週間の実践フォローアップからなる。今やグーグル内で1万人が受ける人気講座に成長し、グーグル以外でもマイクロソフト、SAP、エトナなど大手企業に採用され、世界中で３万人以上が受講している。ビジネスパーソン向けのマインドフルネスプログラムのなかでは世界最大規模を誇る。日本でも2014年より一般向けにプログラムが実施されている。

 

このSIYを作り上げたのは、グーグル107番目の社員で、IQ156の天才エンジニアだったチャディー・メン・タン氏。メン・タン氏は1970年、シンガポールに生まれ、子供時代から、プログラミングのコンテストで、賞を総ナメしてきた。しかし、コンプレックスや生きづらさに苦しみ、21歳のときに仏教と瞑想に出合ったという。2015年にグーグルを退社し、SIYの普及に取り組んでいるメン・タン氏になぜSIYを作ったのかを訊いた。

■究極の目的は世界平和

――どのようなきっかけでグーグルでマインドフルネスをSIYに高めていかれたのでしょうか？

メン・タンもともとの目的はとてもシンプルなんです。私がやりたかったのは、世界平和のための条件を整えることでした。そして、3つのスキル「内なる平和・内なるJOY（喜び）・コンパッション（深い思いやり）」を世界に広められれば、世界平和に通じる道が開けると考えたのです。そして、私が知りうる限りで最も有効な普及法は、「平和・JOY・コンパッション」を「成功と利益」と結びつけることでした。

 

――立派なお題目を掲げるだけでは、共感を集められない。そこで、ビジネスにおける成功や利益と結びつけることにしたんですね。

4つ目は、現代の忙しいビジネスパーソンに最適な実践法を開発することです。昔はマインドフルネスはフルタイムで何年も修行して身につけるものでしたが、現代のわれわれにとっては、そのやり方は現実的でありません。そこで瞑想を集中的に行い、短時間で終えられる方法を編み出すことにしました。1呼吸、2呼吸、1分間、と短時間でも1時間の瞑想に匹敵させることは可能ではないか、と考えたのです。

――メン・タンさんが開発したSIYとマインドフルネスの核をなす「瞑想」は、仏教で長い時間をかけて洗練されてきた方法だと言われています。マインドフルネスと仏教の関係を教えてください。

どんな変化が起きるのか？

――マインドフルネスを取り入れた人々には、どのような変化が起きるのでしょうか？

 

メン・タン仕事上でよく聞くのは、SIYのおかげで昇格したという報告です。より高度な難しい仕事に取り組めるようになった、SIYで学んだスキルを使って、心をクリアにして難解なエンジニアリングの問題が解決できた、という報告も受けます。ある男性はSIYを受けて、自分が働きすぎだとつくづく感じて、週5日から週4日のパートタイムに変更しました。でも、何と彼は働く時間を減らした後で昇格されました。つまり、より短い労働時間で、より効果的に働けるようになった、ということです。上司から昇格を告げられたとき、長時間労働に戻るのはいやなので、断ったのですが、パートタイムのままでいい、という条件で承諾したそうです（笑）。

家庭生活が変わったという報告も多いですね。奥さんから、夫が別人のように優しくなった、という報告を何度か聞きました。

 

また、ある女性はいつも体調が不安定だったのですが、SIYを受けて、その理由が自分の感情を抑圧しているからだと気づき、自分の感情と健全に向き合う方法を学んで、体調が良くなったそうです。

 

――世界最先端の企業が集中するシリコンバレーがある西海岸から、2500年もの長い歴史を持つ仏教の叡智（えいち）をベースとした「マインドフルネス」が花開き、発信されていることは、非常に興味深いと思いました。なぜそのようなことが起きたのでしょうか？

――What kind of consideration was given to improving SIY to a method that anyone can participate in and practice?

Men Tan I noticed four things. First of all, I aimed for accurate wording that the general public could understand. In the olden days, mindfulness was practiced and learned full-time for many years, but for us today, that is not practical. So I decided to focus on meditation and come up with a way to finish it in a short amount of time. I wondered if it would be possible to match one hour of meditation with one breath, two breaths, one minute, and even a short time.

–Meditation, which is the core of SIY and mindfulness developed by Mr. Men Tan, is said to be a method that has been refined over a long period of time in Buddhism. What is the relationship between mindfulness and Buddhism?

 

Men Tan To answer that question, we must answer another important question, “What is Buddhism?” Is it a religion or a philosophy? In fact, it is neither of them. Asked, “What is your teaching?”, Buddha replied, “My teaching is about suffering and about liberation from suffering.” That’s all about the Buddha’s teachings. From that point of view, mindfulness is the main practice in Buddhism to eliminate suffering. Mindfulness is in everything that Buddha has practiced. In early Buddhist books, mindfulness is reminiscent of salt. Because salt is in every dish.

–So, rather than Buddhism as a religion, are you trying to reach the goal of Buddhism before it became a religion?

Men Tan That’s exactly right. My goal is to end all the suffering in the world. It ’s a small dream, is n’t it?

What kind of change will happen?

――What kind of change will happen to people who have adopted mindfulness?

 

Men Tan I often hear reports of promotion thanks to SIY. We also receive reports that we were able to use the skills we learned at SIY to clear our minds and solve difficult engineering problems, which allowed us to tackle more advanced and difficult tasks. One man received SIY and he felt he was overworked and changed from 5 days a week to 4 days a week part-time. But how he was promoted after reducing his working hours. This means that he has shorter working hours and he can work more effectively. When his boss told him he was promoted, he didn’t want to go back to working long hours, so he refused, but he agreed on the condition that he could stay part-time (laughs). ..

 

 

 

There are many reports that family life has changed. I’ve heard several reports from my wife that her husband has become as kind as another person.

 

Also, one woman was always sick, but she received SIY and she realized that the reason was that she was suppressing her emotions, and she became healthy with her emotions. She learned how to face her and she feels better.

 

–The fact that “mindfulness” based on the wisdom of Buddhism (Eichi), which has a long history of 2500 years, has blossomed and is transmitted from the west coast where Silicon Valley, where the world’s most advanced companies are concentrated, is located. I found it very interesting. Why did that happen?

Men Tan There are two and half elements as a background. First of all, the success of Silicon Valley came from the spirit of “realizing what no one has done in history, and one after another.” This continues from the invention of the memory chip and microprocessor in the 1970s. What happened here was that no one had done before that. Therefore, people in Silicon Valley have a special mindset. It’s an open mind to try new things. That is the first factor. Because of that mind, the people of Silicon Valley are used to the dubious and weird things and don’t hate them. Meditations like mindfulness, which were dubious at first, benefited from an open mind.

 

But before that, the second factor was Silicon Valley pay for performance. Even if it is mindfulness, if it is effective, practice it without being particular about it. In other words, first of all, there was pay for performance, and there was an open attitude, and mindfulness spread.

 

 

 

Another half factor, as I said earlier, is that the people here are full of stress. There is always a failure to achieve what was never achieved before. It is said that only 9% of companies that are funded by venture capital in the United States, not just Silicon Valley, will succeed. As a result, there are many setbacks, stresses and sufferings in Silicon Valley.
