文殊菩薩（もんじゅぼさつ、梵: mañjuśrī〈マンジュシュリー〉、梵: mañjughoṣa[1]〈マンジュゴーシャ〉、蔵: ‘jam dpal〈ジャンペル〉）は、大乗仏教の崇拝の対象である菩薩の一尊。一般に智慧を司る仏とされる[2]。その他、非人救済などの慈善事業を司るほか、日本の真言律宗では慈母供養の象徴としての一面も重視された。
文殊菩薩は、大乗仏教において非常に重要な位置を占める菩薩の一尊で、智慧を司るとされています。彼は、知恵や理解力を与え、迷いや煩悩から解放された境地に至るための指導を行う存在とされています。また、文殊菩薩は、般若心経を説いたことで知られており、その教えは広く信仰されています。彼は、漢字表記では「文殊」となりますが、梵字表記では「mañjuśrī」となります。
Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva is one of the most important bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism, revered as the embodiment of wisdom. He is believed to bestow wisdom and understanding, and guide beings towards liberation from ignorance and afflictions. Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva is also known for preaching the Heart Sutra, and his teachings are widely venerated. In Chinese characters, his name is written as “文殊” (Wénshū), while in Sanskrit, it is written as “mañjuśrī”.
